Oakley Meta is the sports line of Meta's AI glasses, made with Meta's eyewear partner EssilorLuxottica. There are two models. Oakley Meta HSTN is the everyday pair and starts at $399. Oakley Meta Vanguard is a wraparound pair for running, cycling and other high-intensity sports, and costs $499. Both have a 12-megapixel camera, open-ear speakers, five microphones and Meta AI, and you set up and manage both in the Meta AI app.

Meta hasn't announced a third model. Its Connect event in September 2026 brought new Ray-Ban and Meta Glasses styles, and the latest Oakley additions came on March 31, 2026: new colors for both models and, for Vanguard, the first Prizm Transitions lenses. Meta says it will sell more than 100 glasses options across Ray-Ban, Oakley and Meta Glasses by the end of 2026.

This guide is based on Meta's and Oakley's announcements, product pages and published specifications. We haven't tested the glasses.

Oakley Meta HSTN, the everyday pair

HSTN, which Meta says is pronounced "HOW-stuhn," puts Meta's camera, speakers and assistant into Oakley's HSTN frame. Meta's own buying guide pitches it as the more affordable sports pair, light enough for a morning run, a weekend hike or a round of golf. It is rated IPX4, which Meta describes as enough to handle sweat and light rain.

Meta says a full charge lasts up to eight hours of typical use and 19 hours on standby, and the case holds up to 48 more hours. A limited edition with gold accents and 24K Prizm Polar lenses sold for $499 in July 2025 while supplies lasted. HSTN was also one of the first Meta glasses to get conversation focus, which uses the speakers to make the voice of the person in front of you louder in a noisy room. Meta started rolling it out to Early Access users in the US and Canada in December 2025.

Oakley Meta Vanguard, the training pair

Vanguard is built around exercise. The camera sits in the middle of the frame behind a 122-degree lens, and Meta added Slow Motion, Hyperlapse and adjustable stabilization when it announced the glasses. The IP67 rating covers temporary submersion in up to a meter of water, according to Meta's Connect 2025 recap. The frame uses Oakley's Three-Point Fit system, ships with three nose pads (including low- and high-bridge fits) and is shaped to wear with cycling helmets and hats. Meta says the speakers are six decibels louder than HSTN's and stay clear in winds of up to 30 mph.

The fitness tie-in launched with Vanguard, although Garmin's page and Strava's help center now list HSTN too. With a compatible Garmin device, sold separately, you can ask Meta AI for your heart rate or pace mid-workout, and the glasses can light a status LED in your peripheral vision to show whether you're on target. A Garmin autocapture feature records clips when you hit distance milestones or push your heart rate, speed or elevation. Strava users can lay their stats over photos and videos before sharing them.

Prices and where to buy

Oakley's US store sells HSTN for $399 with clear or Prizm lenses, $449 with Prizm Polarized lenses and $479 with Transitions. Every Vanguard with standard Prizm lenses costs $499, and Meta.com lists the Black frame with Prizm Transitions Ember lenses at $579. Both models are sold on Meta.com and Oakley.com, and at select Oakley stores and partner retailers.

HSTN launched in 15 countries: the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Australia, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. Vanguard added Switzerland and the Netherlands. Since then, the line has reached India (HSTN, from Dec. 1, 2025, starting at INR 41,800), Singapore in April 2026, Japan on May 21, 2026, and South Korea on May 25, 2026. In Japan, HSTN starts at ¥77,220 and Vanguard at ¥96,580, tax included. Meta says Oakley Meta will arrive in Turkey, Poland, Portugal, Israel, South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Malaysia, Macau and the Philippines later in 2026.

The music and call figures come from Oakley's product pages. Oakley also says the Vanguard glasses fully charge in 75 minutes and the HSTN case fully recharges in 3.5 hours over USB-C. Neither model comes with a USB-C cable, which Oakley says is to reduce waste, so you'll need your own cable and adapter.

Cameras and video

Both models take 12MP photos (3,024 by 4,032 pixels) and record 3K video, which Oakley lists at up to 2,203 by 2,938 pixels at 30 frames per second. Vanguard can also shoot 720p at 120 frames per second, according to Oakley's spec sheet. Each pair has 32GB of storage, which Oakley says holds more than 500 photos or more than 100 30-second videos. Slow Motion and Hyperlapse work on HSTN as well.

Like all of Meta's camera glasses, both have a white capture LED that blinks while you record. Meta says the camera is disabled when the LED is covered, and that it is updating its glasses to do the same when the light has been tampered with.

Lenses: Prizm, Transitions and golf

Prizm is Oakley's lens technology for boosting color and contrast. HSTN launched in six combinations: Warm Grey with Prizm Ruby, Black with Prizm Polar Black, Brown Smoke with Prizm Polar Deep Water, Black with Transitions Amethyst, Clear with Transitions Grey and Black with clear lenses. In March 2026, Oakley added Black with Prizm Dark Golf and Light Curry with Clear to Brown Transitions lenses.

Vanguard uses swappable shield lenses. It launched in Black with Prizm 24K, White with Prizm Black, Black with Prizm Road and White with Prizm Sapphire, and replacement lenses cost $85. The March update added Black with Prizm Black, White with Prizm Rose Gold and Black with Prizm Transitions Ember, which Oakley scheduled for June 30 and Meta.com now lists, plus extra lenses that include Prizm Dark Golf and Prizm Transitions in Ember, Cobalt, Red and Blue.

For golfers, both models now come with or accept Prizm Dark Golf lenses, and Meta suggests asking the assistant "Hey Meta, how strong is the wind today?" before a drive.

Prescription lenses

HSTN is the one to get if you need a prescription. Meta calls all six launch versions "Rx-ready," and Oakley's US store sells HSTN with single-vision or progressive lenses. Since Sept. 23, 2026, Meta.com in Canada also takes prescription orders for Oakley Meta. Oakley's Oakley Meta page gives HSTN an eligible prescription range of -6.00 to +4.00.

Oakley lists prescription lenses for HSTN only, and Meta hasn't announced prescription options for Vanguard. If you need a wide prescription range, most Ray-Ban Meta frames cover -12.00 to +6.00 total power; our Oakley Meta vs Ray-Ban Meta comparison explains the trade-offs.

Music, calls and Meta AI

Both models handle calls, messages, music and podcasts, and answer questions through Meta AI when you say "Hey Meta." Meta added a Spotify feature in December 2025 that picks a song to match what you're looking at; it works in English in 19 countries, including the US, UK, Canada and Australia. When you link Garmin Connect, Apple Health or Health Connect on Android, the Meta AI app shows a summary after each Vanguard workout. Some Meta AI features and voice commands are limited to certain countries and languages, as Oakley's product pages note.

Which Oakley Meta to get

Get HSTN if you want one pair for daily wear and casual sport, need prescription lenses or want the lower price. Get Vanguard if you run, ride or ski hard, want the training features Oakley lists for it, or want the IP67 rating and the centered wide-angle camera.

If you don't need a sports frame at all, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 starts at $449, lasts up to nine hours and has six microphones. Meta's only glasses with a screen are Meta Ray-Ban Display, at $799.
