Oakley Meta HSTN: price, specs, battery life, lenses and prescription options
Oakley Meta HSTN puts a 12MP camera, open-ear speakers and Meta AI into Oakley's HSTN frame. It starts at $399, and it is the Oakley Meta model you can order with prescription lenses.

Part of our Oakley Meta guide
Oakley Meta HSTN is a pair of Oakley glasses with Meta's camera, speakers, microphones and AI assistant built into the frame. Meta and Oakley introduced it in June 2025 as the first Oakley Meta model. A limited edition went on sale in July, and the regular collection reached stores on Aug. 26, 2025, starting at $399. Meta says the name is pronounced "HOW-stuhn."
This guide draws on Meta's and Oakley's announcements, product pages and spec sheets. We haven't tested HSTN.

Price and versions
Oakley's US store prices HSTN by lens type: $399 with clear or Prizm lenses, $449 with Prizm Polarized lenses and $479 with Transitions. Prescription lenses are priced separately when you order. The launch limited edition, with gold accents and 24K Prizm Polar lenses, cost $499 and was sold while supplies lasted.
HSTN launched in six frame and lens combinations, all of which take prescription lenses:
- Warm Grey with Prizm Ruby lenses
- Black with Prizm Polar Black lenses
- Brown Smoke with Prizm Polar Deep Water lenses
- Black with Transitions Amethyst lenses
- Clear with Transitions Grey lenses
- Black with clear lenses
On March 31, 2026, Oakley added Black with Prizm Dark Golf lenses and Light Curry with Clear to Brown Transitions lenses, and its US store listed eight HSTN colors that April.

Battery life
Meta rates HSTN at up to eight hours of typical use and up to 19 hours on standby. Oakley's fine print adds that continuous music or calls last up to five hours. The case holds up to 48 hours of extra charge, gets the glasses to 50% in 20 minutes and recharges itself in 3.5 hours over USB-C. HSTN ships without a USB-C cable or adapter, which Oakley says is to cut waste.
Meta credits part of that battery life to the ultra-narrow steelcan batteries it first developed for Meta Ray-Ban Display, which it says also went into HSTN and Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2.
What HSTN does
The camera takes photos and video when you say "Hey Meta, take a video" or press the capture button, and a white LED on the front blinks while it records. At Connect in September 2025, Meta said the Slow Motion and Hyperlapse modes it built for Vanguard would also work on HSTN.
The speakers are built into the frame and play music and podcasts from apps such as Spotify and Apple Music while leaving your ears open. You can make calls, send messages and ask Meta AI questions about where you are or what you're looking at. Oakley's examples include checking the tides en route and finding local hikes; Meta's include asking how strong the wind is before a golf shot.
Two software features have arrived since launch. Conversation focus, which makes the voice of the person in front of you louder in noisy places, started rolling out to Early Access users of Ray-Ban Meta and HSTN in the US and Canada in December 2025. The same update added a Spotify feature that plays a song to match what you're looking at, in English in 19 countries.
Meta announced its Garmin and Strava integrations with Oakley Meta Vanguard. Garmin's Oakley Meta page now names HSTN as well, and Strava's help center says its photo and video overlays work on all Oakley Meta and Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Garmin says its integration is available only in the US for now and doesn't say whether every feature runs on both models, so confirm before you buy HSTN for training. Our Vanguard vs HSTN comparison has the details.
Lenses and Prizm
Prizm is Oakley's lens technology for raising color and contrast, and Oakley tunes each Prizm tint for different light. Prizm Dark Golf, for example, lets through 22% of light, has a rose base and is meant for medium light, according to Oakley. Polarized versions cut glare from water and roads, and the Transitions versions darken outdoors and clear up indoors, so one pair can work as sunglasses and as everyday glasses.
The lenses can be replaced. In April 2026, Oakley's US store sold HSTN replacement lenses for $85 (clear or Prizm), $138 (Prizm Polarized) and $165 (Transitions).
Prescription lenses
HSTN is the Oakley Meta to buy if you wear glasses. On Oakley.com, you pick a frame, then choose single-vision or progressive lenses and enter or upload your prescription; Oakley says it accepts most vision insurance plans online. Since Sept. 23, 2026, Meta.com in Canada takes prescription orders for Oakley Meta as well.
Oakley's Oakley Meta page gives HSTN an eligible prescription range of -6.00 to +4.00. That's narrower than most Ray-Ban Meta frames, which Meta's help center rates at -12.00 to +6.00 total power, so check your numbers before ordering. Meta's prescription FAQ on Best Buy's Meta page lists HSTN at -12.00 to +6.00 SPH+CYL instead, so ask the seller which range applies; our Oakley Meta prescription guide covers both figures.
HSTN or Vanguard
HSTN is the cheaper, more ordinary-looking pair, and the only one of the two with prescription lenses. Meta's buying guide positions it for everyday wear with some sport, from a morning run to a round of golf. Vanguard costs $100 more and adds IP67 water and dust resistance, a centered 122-degree camera, louder speakers, an extra hour of battery and the training features Oakley lists under it, such as a status LED only the wearer can see. Our Oakley Meta guide compares the two in detail, and the Oakley Meta vs Ray-Ban Meta comparison covers the Ray-Ban alternatives.
Frequently asked questions
How do you pronounce Oakley Meta HSTN?
Meta says it's pronounced "HOW-stuhn." The smart glasses take their name and shape from Oakley's existing HSTN frame.
Is Oakley Meta HSTN waterproof?
No. It's rated IPX4, which Meta describes as enough for sweat and light rain, and it isn't rated for submersion. Oakley Meta Vanguard is the IP67 model.
Does Oakley Meta HSTN come with a charger?
It comes with a charging case that holds up to 48 hours of extra battery, but no USB-C cable or wall adapter. Oakley says it leaves the cable out to reduce waste.
Can I change the lenses on Oakley Meta HSTN?
Yes. In April 2026, Oakley's US store sold HSTN replacement lenses for $85 (clear or Prizm), $138 (Prizm Polarized) and $165 (Transitions).
Does Oakley Meta HSTN have a display?
No. HSTN has no screen in the lens, so Meta AI answers by voice. Meta's only display glasses are Meta Ray-Ban Display.
