Editorial standards

How we report, what we promise readers and what we do when we get something wrong.

Last updated: 25 October 2026

Accuracy and sources

We report from primary sources whenever they exist: company announcements, product pages and help centers, regulatory filings, court and government documents, research papers and on-the-record statements. Every story links to them in the text and lists them at the end. Numbers always come with their source, and when two sources disagree we say so.

What we tested

Guides and buying advice say clearly what we have used ourselves and what comes from specifications, manufacturers or other reporting. We never present a spec sheet as a hands-on, and we don't claim experiences we haven't had.

Rumors and leaks

When a story is based on a leak, a regulatory filing or an unconfirmed report, the headline and the first paragraph say so, together with who reported it and how solid it looks.

Headlines

Our headlines tell you what happened. No bait, and no questions we don't answer in the story.

Images

Photos come from official press materials, credited to their owners, or from openly licensed collections such as Wikimedia Commons, with the author and the license under each image. Charts are made by us from the data we cite. Illustrations are labeled as such. We never use other outlets' photos.

Independence

No company pays for coverage, sees a story before it's published or decides what we write. We don't accept gifts in exchange for coverage. If we ever use affiliate links or run ads, they will be labeled and will have no say in what we publish.

Talaya also makes an AI assistant app for Ray-Ban Meta glasses that uses Google's Gemini. We cover Meta, Google and their competitors by the same standards, and our own app never appears inside a news story. When it's relevant, it gets a clearly separated box.

Corrections and updates

If we get something wrong, we fix it and add a note at the end of the story saying what changed and when. Stories that change after publication show an “Updated” time under the headline.
