Oakley Meta prescription lenses: which models, ranges, lens types and how to order
Oakley Meta HSTN is sold with prescription lenses and Vanguard isn't. Oakley lists a range of -6.00 to +4.00 for HSTN, while the prescription FAQ on Best Buy's Meta page lists -12.00 to +6.00, so confirm your numbers before you pay.

Part of our Oakley Meta guide
Oakley Meta HSTN is the Oakley Meta model you can order with prescription lenses. Oakley sells it with single-vision or progressive lenses in Prizm, Transitions or clear. You can order on Oakley.com, through Meta's prescription site or from a certified retailer, and a retailer can add lenses to a pair you already own. Oakley Meta Vanguard isn't offered with prescription lenses.
The sources disagree on how strong a prescription HSTN takes. Oakley's own Oakley Meta page lists -6.00 to +4.00. The prescription FAQ on Best Buy's Meta page lists HSTN together with Ray-Ban Meta at -12.00 to +6.00 SPH+CYL. This guide reports both, and the safe move is to confirm your numbers with the seller before you pay.

This guide is based on Oakley's US site, EssilorLuxottica's brochure for opticians, the prescription FAQ on Best Buy's Meta page and Oakley's shipping and returns terms. We haven't ordered prescription lenses for these glasses.

Which Oakley Meta models take prescription lenses
HSTN does. Oakley's Oakley Meta page lists "Oakley Authentic Prescription" under HSTN, and HSTN's product page carries a "Prescription available" label with sections for prescription lenses and for insurance and prescription upload. EssilorLuxottica's brochure for opticians says HSTN is available with prescription lenses in Prizm, Transitions and clear, for both single and progressive vision. It also lists a QR code for ordering prescription lenses among the accessories that come with HSTN.
Vanguard doesn't. In the FAQ's answer about adding lenses to glasses you already own, Vanguard is marked "No, not available with prescription lenses." Oakley's prescription listing covers HSTN only, and the Vanguard product page doesn't carry the "Prescription available" label that HSTN's does. We read archived copies of both product pages, Vanguard's from April 2026 and HSTN's from May 2026, because a live read was blocked, so check the live page before you order. The Vanguard page does include Oakley's general prescription lens text, which also appears on HSTN's page, so that text alone isn't a sign of availability.
Prescription range: what Oakley and Meta say
The published limits for HSTN differ by source.
| Source | Range | What it says |
|---|---|---|
| Oakley's Oakley Meta page | -6.00 to +4.00 | "Eligible prescription range" for Oakley Authentic Prescription lenses |
| EssilorLuxottica's brochure (Feb. 2026 edition) | -6.00 to +4.00 total power | You must have a valid prescription, and some Prizm colors aren't available in prescription |
| Best Buy's Meta FAQ | -12.00 to +6.00 SPH+CYL | Listed for HSTN, Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) and the Ray-Ban Meta Optics styles |
| Best Buy's Meta FAQ, Meta.com orders | -6.00 to +6.00 SPH+CYL | Orders are "currently supported" in this range, and other certified retailers handle anything outside it |
The pages don't explain the gap, and the FAQ doesn't say whether its wider range applies to orders placed on Oakley.com. If your prescription is within -6.00 to +4.00, every source covers it. If it falls outside that but inside the wider figures, ask Oakley or the retailer to confirm that they can make lenses for HSTN at your numbers before you pay. The brochure states the limit as total power and the FAQ as sphere plus cylinder (SPH+CYL), so an optician can check your prescription against whichever the seller uses.
Lens types and colors
HSTN's prescription lenses come in single-vision and progressive versions. The lens families are Prizm, Transitions and clear. The brochure says every Prizm and Transitions color that can be made in prescription is available for HSTN through the Oakley Authentic Prescription Program, and that ordering prescription lenses opens up more color options than the plano (non-prescription) range on Oakley.com, which is Prizm Ruby, Prizm Black Polarized, Prizm Deep Water Polarized, Prizm Dark Golf, Transitions Amethyst, Transitions Grey, Transitions Brown and clear. It also says some Prizm colors aren't available in prescription, without naming them, and that the Prizm and Oakley etches are removed from prescription lenses.
Oakley's HSTN page also describes lens materials by prescription strength, from a 1.50 index for low prescriptions to 1.74 for strong ones, and coatings such as Oakley Blue Ready and Stealth Pro. The same text appears on Vanguard's page, so treat it as Oakley's general lens menu, not a confirmed list for Oakley Meta frames, and ask which materials and coatings your prescription needs.
What prescription lenses cost
The pages we could read don't print a price for prescription lenses. Oakley prices them separately when you order, on top of the frame, which costs $399 with clear or Prizm lenses, $449 with Prizm Polarized and $479 with Transitions. The $85, $138 and $165 that Oakley's US store listed in April 2026 for HSTN replacement lenses are for non-prescription lenses, so they don't tell you what a prescription pair costs. Ray-Ban's lens prices are in our Ray-Ban Meta prescription guide, and there's no reason to assume Oakley's match them.
Where to order
Oakley.com
On Oakley.com you pick a frame and lens color, choose single vision or progressive and enter or upload your prescription. Oakley's HSTN page has an "Insurance and prescription upload" section, and our HSTN guide notes that Oakley says it accepts most vision insurance plans online. Oakley's shipping page says you can collect prescription products at an Oakley store, and its Oakley Meta page lists free fitting and adjustment in store.
Meta's prescription site
Best Buy's FAQ says prescription AI glasses are ordered directly from Meta.com: on a Best Buy product page, the "Shop prescription lenses" link takes you to Meta's prescription site to finish the order. Meta's own prescription page tells shoppers to find Rx glasses through Ray-Ban.com and Oakley.com and adds "Not sold in all countries." Since Sept. 23, 2026, Meta.com in Canada also takes prescription orders for Oakley Meta.
Certified retailers and your own optician
Best Buy's FAQ says you can add prescription lenses to an HSTN you already own at a certified retailer or through your optical provider. The pages we read don't list which stores are certified. Oakley's shipping page names Oakley and Sunglass Hut stores for pickup and Oakley, Sunglass Hut and LensCrafters stores for returns of prescription products, but it doesn't say which of them fit lenses into Oakley Meta frames, so call first. Our where-to-buy guide compares Meta.com, Best Buy and the optical chains.
For what a valid prescription includes and how to find your pupillary distance, see our Ray-Ban Meta prescription guide. Its steps come from Best Buy's FAQ for Meta's AI glasses, which covers Oakley Meta too.
How long delivery takes
Best Buy's FAQ says prescription orders for Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta and Meta Glasses take up to 14 days, and it points to order tracking for current estimates. Oakley's shipping page lists 10 to 12 business days after it receives your prescription for "RX Electronic glasses," with free shipping, and says the lab needs five to seven days once your prescription has been received and verified. That page doesn't name Oakley Meta, so ask which line applies to your order.
Warranty, returns and fitting
For glasses you already own, Best Buy's FAQ is direct: "The manufacturer warranty will remain intact only if prescription lenses are added at a certified retailer." Meta's help center says glasses made by partners such as EssilorLuxottica, including Oakley Meta, are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and our warranty guide explains what that covers. Oakley's safety guide, in the May 2025 edition we read, says not to heat or bend the front frame or temples, including for fitting, so ask any shop how it mounts lenses in this frame. The guide also says a pair with prescription lenses is meant only for the person the prescription was made for.
Returns are less clear. The FAQ says pairs bought with prescription lenses from Meta's prescription site or a certified retailer can be returned by following the instructions given at purchase, and that you should contact a non-certified shop if it added the lenses. Oakley.com points two ways. A banner on every page says custom products can't be returned, and the returns page says custom sunglasses, goggles and accessories aren't eligible for return or exchange. The same page says you can return prescription products to Oakley, Sunglass Hut or LensCrafters stores, and that store returns of Oakley.com orders must happen within 30 days of purchase. For AI glasses, Oakley asks you to submit a return form, import your captures, factory reset the glasses and pack them with the case and accessories. Ask which rule covers an Oakley Meta prescription order before you pay.
FSA, HSA and vision insurance
Best Buy's FAQ says that when you add prescription lenses, your frame and lens purchase may be eligible for vision insurance reimbursement or for FSA and HSA funds. You submit the receipt to your provider, and the FAQ asks you to confirm coverage in advance because Meta can't verify eligibility. Our FSA, HSA and insurance guide lists the questions to put to your plan.
If your prescription is outside the range
Ask a certified retailer or your optical provider what they can make for HSTN. Best Buy's FAQ sends anything outside -6.00 to +6.00 to other certified retailers. For comparison, Ray-Ban Meta's published range on Meta's help center is -12.00 to +6.00 total power for most frames, though the Gen 3 Aviator supports -6.00 to +4.00. Our guide to prescription smart glasses compares the published ranges across brands, and our Vanguard vs HSTN comparison covers what you give up if you choose HSTN to get prescription lenses.
