Where to buy Ray-Ban Meta glasses in the US, and how the sellers differ

Meta, Ray-Ban, Best Buy, Amazon and the optical chains all sell Ray-Ban Meta glasses, but they differ on in-store try-on, prescription lenses and return windows. Here is what each seller offers, plus how to buy a used pair or time a gift.

Part of our Ray-Ban Meta guide

You can buy Ray-Ban Meta glasses from Meta.com and Meta's own stores, from Ray-Ban.com and Ray-Ban stores, from retailers on Meta's authorized list such as Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart and Target, and from optical chains including LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut and Target Optical. The sellers differ on whether you can try a pair on first, how they handle prescription lenses and how long you have to return them.

This guide is based on Meta's list of authorized retailers, Best Buy's announcement and return policy, Costco's product page and the research behind our other Ray-Ban Meta guides. We haven't visited or bought from these sellers, and policies change, so check the seller's current terms before you pay.

Meta.com and Meta Lab stores

Meta sells the glasses on Meta.com and in its Meta Lab stores. Its retailer page lists eight Meta Lab stores in the US: Ala Moana, American Dream, Burlingame, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York City, Tysons Corner and Waikiki. Meta describes them as retail spaces where you can experience its products up close. Online, the product pages have a virtual try-on button.

Prescription orders on Meta.com go through Meta's own prescription site, which Best Buy's FAQ says currently supports -6.00 to +6.00 and delivers in up to 14 days. For anything outside that range, the FAQ points to other certified retailers. Our prescription guide has the lens types, ranges and prices. Returns on Meta.com run 30 days from delivery, and our warranty and returns guide explains how a return works.

Ray-Ban.com and Ray-Ban stores

Ray-Ban.com lists every Ray-Ban Meta line: Gen 3, Gen 2, the Optics frames made for prescriptions, Audio and the last Gen 1 pairs, which it labels "last chance" stock from $224. You order prescription lenses with the frames, and the site has an insurance option at checkout that our FSA, HSA and insurance guide covers. Returns run 45 days from receipt.

Ray-Ban says its store locator can filter for locations that carry the Ray-Ban Meta collection, and that select stores take appointments. Our price guide has Ray-Ban's list prices for every model.

Best Buy

Meta's retailer list shows Best Buy selling Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, Meta Glasses and Meta Ray-Ban Display. On June 8, Best Buy announced Meta Lab @ Best Buy: 900-square-foot demo spaces with Meta sales specialists, personalized fittings and smart mirrors that let you virtually try on Ray-Ban Meta styles. It said the spaces would open in more than 50 stores, so check that yours has one before you go. Best Buy's Meta Lab page has more information.

Prescription orders aren't completed at Best Buy. On a product page, a "Shop prescription lenses" link sends you to Meta's prescription site, and the FAQ says delivery takes up to 14 days. Best Buy's return policy gives most products 15 days from the day you receive them, and 60 days for My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total members. The part of the policy we read doesn't mention smart glasses, so confirm the window on the product page.

LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut and Target Optical

EssilorLuxottica, which makes Ray-Ban Meta with Meta, names LensCrafters and Sunglass Hut among its retailers and lists both as locations that carry the Optics frames. Target Optical sells the glasses too and publishes its own return policy. Meta's retailer page lists LensCrafters and Sunglass Hut under its Meta Glasses line and not under Ray-Ban Meta, so call ahead to confirm a store has the style you want.

For prescription lenses, Meta's help center points to participating certified retailers. The pages we read don't say which locations of these three chains qualify, or which keep demo pairs on hand.

Amazon, Walmart, Target and other retailers

Meta's list of authorized US retailers for Ray-Ban Meta also names Amazon, Walmart, Target, B&H, Micro Center, HSN, QVC, Inmotion, TikTok Shop and the carriers AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. The page calls them "selected retailers," so it isn't a complete list, and it names retailers, not the individual sellers on their marketplaces. On Amazon or Walmart, check who sells and ships the pair before you pay, and keep the order confirmation. Ray-Ban's warranty terms require proof of purchase and aren't available for glasses bought from anyone other than Luxottica or an authorized dealer. Return terms are set by the retailer, and Meta's help center tells you to contact the one you bought from.

Costco

Costco.com listed a Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 Skyler without prescription lenses when we checked on Oct. 25. Costco's page gives 90 days from the day a member receives the order and says sunglass returns can be made at the Optical department of a local Costco. We didn't see Gen 3 or other styles on that page. Meta's retailer page lists Costco for its Quest headsets but not for Ray-Ban Meta, and we found no Meta or Ray-Ban statement about Costco either way, so ask the Optical department how it handles warranty claims before you buy.

Picking a seller

  • To try a pair on first, go to a Ray-Ban store that carries the collection, a Meta Lab store or a Best Buy with a Meta Lab space, and call ahead to confirm the style you want is on display.
  • To order prescription lenses with the frames, use Ray-Ban.com, a Ray-Ban store or a certified optical retailer. Best Buy's FAQ says the manufacturer warranty stays intact only if a certified retailer fits lenses in a pair you already own.

Meta Ray-Ban Display is a separate case. Meta's list shows only Best Buy and Verizon for it in the US, and our Display buying guide covers where to try and order it.

Buying used or refurbished

Ray-Ban's warranty terms say the coverage isn't available for glasses bought from anyone other than Luxottica or an authorized dealer, and they require proof of purchase that shows the date. On those terms, a pair from a private seller or an online reseller comes without Ray-Ban's warranty. Our warranty guide has the full terms.

If you still want a used pair:

  1. Ask the seller to factory reset the glasses. Meta says they pair with only one Meta account at a time, so a pair still linked to the old owner can't be set up with yours.
  2. Ask for the serial number and the receipt, plus the model code if you need to know which generation it is. Our Gen 2 vs Gen 1 guide lists the codes and other ways to tell.
  3. Ask how long the battery lasts in real use. Ray-Ban's FAQ says the battery in the glasses and in the case can't be replaced.

Price it against new stock: Ray-Ban's US store was selling the last Gen 1 pairs new from $224 on Oct. 25. We found no refurbished program for Ray-Ban Meta in the Meta and Ray-Ban pages we read. Best Buy's return policy applies its windows to the open-box, refurbished and pre-owned items it sells itself, so an open-box pair from Best Buy keeps a return window that a private sale won't.

Timing a gift

Return windows count from the day you receive or buy the pair, not the day it's opened. A pair delivered in mid-November is past Best Buy's 15-day window and Meta's 30-day window by Dec. 25, while Ray-Ban.com's 45 days and Costco's 90 days leave room. Some retailers extend returns for holiday purchases. The Meta, Ray-Ban.com and Target Optical windows in our warranty guide don't mention an extension, so check the seller's current policy when you order.

A few other things to settle before you wrap it:

  • Deals. On Oct. 25, Ray-Ban was taking 46% off its prescription lens prices at checkout, according to our price guide. Promotions change, so check the offer on the day you order.
  • Prescription lenses. Orders through Meta's prescription site take up to 14 days, and a recipient's prescription isn't something to guess. Best Buy's FAQ says you can add lenses to a pair later at a certified retailer or your optical provider, with the manufacturer warranty intact only if a certified retailer does it.
  • Fit. The Wayfarer comes in standard and large sizes, and some styles come in low-bridge or high-bridge fits. Our styles and sizes guide has the measurements, and a long return window or a nearby store makes a swap easier.
  • Protection plans. Meta Warranty Plus, which is US only and sold with glasses bought on Meta.com, and the Ray-Ban Protection Plan can only be bought when you buy the glasses, so decide before the pair becomes a present.

At stores with a Meta Lab space. Best Buy said on June 8 that Meta Lab @ Best Buy would open in more than 50 stores, with Meta sales specialists, fittings and smart mirrors for virtually trying on Ray-Ban Meta styles. Check that your store has one before you go.

Does Amazon sell genuine Ray-Ban Meta glasses?

Meta's list of authorized retailers includes Amazon for Ray-Ban Meta in the US, but it names the retailer, not each seller on its marketplace. Check who sells and ships the pair, and keep the order confirmation, because Ray-Ban's warranty requires proof of purchase.

Costco.com listed a Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 Skyler without prescription lenses on Oct. 25, with a 90-day return window. Costco isn't on Meta's list of authorized US retailers for Ray-Ban Meta, so ask how it handles warranty claims before you buy.
