Google's Pixel Watch 5 is the only Pixel Watch on its store menu as of Oct. 25, 2026. It starts at $399 for the 41 mm and $429 for the 45 mm. Google announced it on Aug. 12 and put it on shelves Aug. 20. The watch runs Wear OS 7, works with phones running Android 12 or newer, and works with Gemini and the Google Health app, which replaced the Fitbit app in May.

This guide is based on Google's announcement, its Google Store pages and specification sheet, and Google Health help pages. We haven't tested the watch.

Both sizes share a 3,000-nit domed Actua 360 AMOLED display under Gorilla Glass 5, a Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated chip, 64GB of storage, 5 ATM and IP68 ratings, dual-frequency GPS, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, ultra-wideband and a one-year warranty, according to Google's spec sheet. Google also says the watch is repairable and gets new features through Pixel Drops.

The Stephen Curry Special Edition is a 45 mm watch in a Satin Pyrite case with a Rye performance loop band that fits wrists of 145 to 205 mm. It costs $579, and Google's launch post gave Sept. 3 as its on-shelf date. The Google Store lists the standard watch from $399.99, or $33.33 a month with 12-month financing.

What changed from Pixel Watch 4

Google's post presents these as new:

  • A Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated chip with 50% more RAM and a 12% faster CPU, which Google says makes the watch 20% faster.
  • GPS route tracking that Google says is twice as accurate as earlier Pixel watches in difficult environments such as dense high-rises. In an internal study with pre-production watches in July 2026, on sessions of up to three hours, Google says Pixel Watch 5 outperformed the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the Garmin Fenix 8 Pro. That is Google's own claim, not independent testing.
  • A sleep algorithm that Google says detects sleep stages 15% more accurately than the previous one.
  • An At a Glance watch-face feature, proactive Gemini suggestions and a double pinch gesture for confirming them.
  • Monthly blood pressure, sleep breathing quality and insulin resistance trend summaries, and, in Europe first, breathing emergency detection.

The launch post doesn't compare prices or battery ratings with the Pixel Watch 4, and the Google Store's watch menu lists only the Pixel Watch 5.

Gemini on the wrist

Google calls the watch "designed for Gemini Intelligence." Raise your wrist to talk to Gemini and start a workout, set a timer or pull up a dinner reservation from Gmail. Google says core actions now run on the watch, so they respond quickly even offline. Proactive suggestions go further: if someone asks when the family dinner is, Gemini finds the answer in your calendar and shows it on your wrist, and a double pinch selects, confirms and sends.

Google's footnotes add conditions. The Gemini features need a phone with the Gemini mobile app and a Google Account, an internet connection, and a supported language and country, and they are for users 18 and older. Our assistant comparison shows how Gemini on a watch compares with Siri and Meta AI.

Health tracking, Fitbit and the Premium fee

The Fitbit app became the Google Health app on May 19, 2026, and Fitbit Premium became Google Health Premium, according to Google's help page. Fitbit accounts have to move to Google accounts to use the new app.

Pixel Watch 5 tracks blood oxygen, heart rate variability, breathing rate, skin temperature variation and resting heart rate, and has an ECG app, irregular rhythm alerts and high and low heart rate alerts. Google says Loss of Pulse Detection can prompt a call to emergency services. Google says the availability of its Health Guardian features varies by region and device, and the pages we read don't give the US regulatory status of the ECG app or Loss of Pulse Detection.

The three new monthly trend summaries are wellness features. Google's footnotes say they are intended for general wellness and information, not to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. They are not a prescreener for hypertension, diabetes or sleep apnea, give no real-time clinical readings, and shouldn't be used to adjust medications or by pregnant people. Google's store listed blood pressure trends as coming in September 2026, and we couldn't confirm whether it has reached US watches. Breathing emergency detection, which can call emergency services and send your location if you are unresponsive during a severe, persistent oxygen drop, launches first in Europe.

Google Health Premium, formerly Fitbit Premium, costs $9.99 a month or $99 a year. It includes Google Health Coach, a coach built with Gemini that makes personalized plans and answers health questions from your data. Google's help page lists the personalized weekly fitness plans and the Premium content library as Premium only, and Google says subscribers to its Google AI Pro and Ultra plans also get Premium. The Google Store says Pixel Watch 5 comes with three months. Google's terms for Premium trials say the plan renews at $9.99 a month after the trial unless you cancel.

LTE, satellite and data

Google's spec sheet lists 4G LTE and UMTS, and the store's offer of two years of Google Fi Wireless data applies to "any Google Pixel Watch 5 (LTE)." The data covers messaging, navigation and music, calling isn't supported, and returning the watch ends the data service, according to the store page.

We couldn't read the LTE price. The spec sheet's connectivity list also includes satellite SOS communication without separating the Wi-Fi and LTE versions, so confirm which version has it before you buy.

Which phones work

Google lists phones running Android 12 or newer, a Google Account and the Pixel Watch app. It lists no iPhone support, and Gemini on a Wear OS watch needs a connected Android phone, as our assistant comparison reports from Google's help page. iPhone owners should read our Apple Watch guide.

The Pixel Watch 5 starts a little above the Watch9 and far below the Ultra2. The phone requirements differ too. Google lists Android 12 or newer, while Samsung's sleep coaching and Energy Score need a Samsung Galaxy phone, as our Galaxy Watch guide explains. Both companies build Gemini into the watch, and Google says the Pixel Watch handles core actions on the watch itself.

Other Google wearables

Google's store menu also lists Fitbit Air, Fitbit Edge and Fitbit Versa 4. CNET said in May that Fitbit Air, a screenless band, starts at $100, as we note in our smart ring vs smartwatch guide. Google says its monthly health summaries will come to Fitbit Air too.

Which size and version to buy

This advice rests on specifications, not testing.

  • The 41 mm suits smaller wrists, since its small band fits 130 to 175 mm. It is $30 cheaper than the 45 mm.
  • The 45 mm has the larger battery, 465 mAh against 332 mAh, and Google rates it for 40 hours instead of 30.
  • Choose the LTE version only if you plan to leave your phone behind, and check its price on Google's store, since we couldn't read it.
  • Samsung's Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is rated for up to 60 hours, against 40 for the 45 mm Pixel Watch, at $699.99.
