XREAL Aura goes on sale: the first Android XR glasses, shipping mid-November

XREAL Aura, the first pair of glasses to run Android XR, went on sale Oct. 28. Google's announcement says orders are open in the US, Canada and South Korea, and open in Japan on Nov. 2. Shipments begin in mid-November. You can order at xreal.com/aura or, in the US, at BestBuy.com. Buyers must be 18 or older.

What it costs

Google states one price: "launch pricing starting at USD 1,099 through the end of the year." That is the figure to trust. The company's blog doesn't give the regular price, and the XREAL US page we read showed none.

Outlets fill in the rest, and they don't fully agree. 9to5Google lists the 12GB RAM and 256GB model at $1,279, with a limited-time $1,099 offer through December 2026. Road to VR gives the same pair of numbers in its table, though its headline rounds to $1,100. TechCrunch says the 16GB and 512GB model is $1,499 with a $1,299 launch price. That puts the discount at $180 on the smaller model and $200 on the larger one, so 9to5Google's "$200 off" headline is only exact for the 16GB version.

None of the sources we read says what the price will be after the launch window.

Canada

Canada is in the first wave. XREAL's Canadian shop lists the same two memory variants and says shipping is expected to begin in mid-November 2026, on a rolling basis. It also shows Canadian dollar figures, but marks price, delivery and final specifications as "to be confirmed," so we are not publishing a CAD price. Whether Canadian buyers get the launch discount isn't stated anywhere we read.

What Aura is

Aura is a pair of see-through glasses with its own computer. Google says the glasses weigh under 95 grams because "the heavy processing happens in a portable compute puck, connected by a cable." The puck holds the battery and Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Reality Elite platform, which debuts on Aura. Google gives the field of view as 70 degrees.

XREAL's page lists five levels of electrochromic dimming, and its Canadian shop lists two sizes: Medium for an interpupillary distance of 60 to 66 mm and Large for 66 to 72 mm. A laptop can plug in over a USB-C cable that supports video output, and its screen shows up as a window you can resize and place anywhere.

Android XR, Gemini and the launch apps

Aura runs Android XR with Google Play apps, plus "over 150 apps made for XR," a count XREAL's page repeats. Google says Gemini on Android XR "understands what you're seeing and doing, both in the real world and on your screens."

Google names new XR games coming with Aura, including Fallout Factions and Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars, and immersive films such as Nevatars and Galapagos: the Last Eden. TechCrunch also lists the NBA app and NASCAR XR. We haven't seen a full list of the 150, and the earlier Owlchemy titles are covered in our launch games piece. According to 9to5Google, XREAL and GameSir have also made a controller for Aura, and a wireless keyboard is coming.

How it differs from other XREAL and Viture glasses

Most XREAL glasses are display glasses with no computer of their own. Aura is the exception, as we explain in our XREAL lineup guide. It also costs far more than the XREAL 1S, which our guide lists at $449 as the entry model. Viture, in our XREAL vs Viture comparison, has no Android XR product that we found.

What's still unknown

• The price after the launch window.
• Canadian dollar pricing and whether the discount applies in Canada.
• Battery life, which no source we read gives.
• Whether Aura reaches other countries. Road to VR says broader retail comes in 2027 to select Google Store locations in the US and Japan.
