XREAL Aura drops to $1,099 in US, and Mixed reports refunds for early buyers

XREAL's launch offer in the US puts the entry XREAL Aura at $1,099, down from $1,279. The offer covers the 12GB RAM and 256GB model, according to Mixed, which describes it as a limited-time US launch offer. Mixed also reports that XREAL's store promises price-difference refunds to customers who fully paid the original price before Oct. 28. We could not find that refund wording on an XREAL page, so treat it as reported, not confirmed by the company.

The new prices

Google's launch post, dated Oct. 28, says launch pricing starts at $1,099 "through the end of the year." 9to5Google puts both models in a table, each with a limited-time price through December 2026:

ModelRegular priceLaunch offerSaving
12GB RAM, 256GB storage$1,279$1,099$180
16GB RAM, 512GB storage$1,499$1,299$200

The "$200 off" in 9to5Google's headline applies only to the 16GB model. The cheaper one saves $180. Mixed gives the same figures.

Neither Google nor 9to5Google says what the price will be once the offer ends. The regular prices above are the only hint, and no company text we read promises a return to them.

The refund for earlier buyers

Here is what Mixed reports about the refund:

  • Who qualifies: customers who fully paid the original price before Oct. 28, according to Mixed's reading of XREAL's store.
  • How it is paid: XREAL expects to start the refunds within 30 days, returning the money to the original payment method.
  • When it arrives: that depends on the buyer's bank or payment provider.

Google announced the launch price on Oct. 28, the day orders opened in the US. Our earlier guide says reservations were taken before Oct. 7, and nothing we read says whether a deposit-only reservation counts as having "fully paid." If you reserved with a deposit and paid the balance before Oct. 28, you may qualify. If you paid the balance on or after that date, the reported wording does not clearly cover you.

What is still unclear

  • How to claim. No source we read describes a claim form, a deadline or any step. Mixed says XREAL "expects to initiate" refunds, which does not say whether buyers must act. Check the order confirmation email or XREAL support if you paid early.
  • Where it applies. Mixed calls the price a US offer. Orders also opened Oct. 28 in Canada and South Korea and open Nov. 2 in Japan, per Google. Whether the $1,099 price or the refunds apply there is not stated, and our launch report notes that no confirmed Canadian price has been published.
  • XREAL's own text. XREAL's US product page shows no price or refund wording, and we could not open a store page that does. Until XREAL or Google confirms the refund rule, it rests on Mixed alone.

What shipping in mid-November means

Google says shipments begin in mid-November. Buyers can order at xreal.com/aura or, in the US, at BestBuy.com. Mixed reports that orders go out in batches and that priority fulfillment sets the warehouse dispatch order without guaranteeing a delivery date. An order placed now at $1,099 ships no earlier than mid-November, and a place in the queue does not fix an arrival day.

For the specs, XREAL's page lists a 70-degree field of view, peak brightness of 1,050 nits and 1920 × 1200 pixels per eye. Mixed reports two sizes: Medium for an interpupillary distance of 60 to 66mm and Large for 66 to 72mm. Google says the glasses weigh under 95 grams because the processing happens in a compute puck connected by a cable, and the launch includes more than 150 apps made for XR.

Which price to rely on

For a purchase, the price on the checkout page is the one that counts, and the offer window runs to December, so there is no sign of a rush on pricing alone. Our full Aura guide was written before launch and still lists $1,279 and a reservation-only ordering note, so use this piece and the launch report for current ordering details. We will update this story if XREAL publishes the refund terms.
