The Talaya Brief: Samsung patent would let glasses hear you without a wake word
A Samsung patent describes talking to an AI assistant by looking at a virtual object, Samsung's glasses reportedly still target mid-December, Subvocal opens reservations, Viture's Phantom Beast goes on sale and XREAL Aura gets a free game.

A Samsung patent would skip the wake word
Samsung has a patent titled "System and method for artificial intelligence agent interaction based on user gaze," according to Wareable. SammyGuru says it covers a user who looks at a virtual object and starts speaking without a wake word, after which the system prepares to receive the command. Wareable presents it as a look at how future XR glasses might work and gives no product date. Samsung hasn't said whether the feature will reach any product, and we haven't read the filing itself. Background is in our Samsung glasses explainer.
Samsung's glasses reportedly still aim for mid-December
Chosunbiz reports, citing the electronics industry, that Samsung will begin first sales of its AI smart glasses in mid-December in Korea and the US. Japan and Europe are left out at first, and the outlet says the price "has not yet been set and is currently under discussion." Samsung has not confirmed the date. This item is from Oct. 30 and was in yesterday's Brief; our full story has the detail.
Subvocal opens US reservations for silent-speech glasses
India Today reports that The Subvocal Company has opened US reservations for glasses that turn silent mouth movements into text. The listed price is $699, and early buyers can reserve for $499, which includes a refundable $199 deposit. Prescription lenses cost extra. The startup says the wearable recognizes subvocal speech at more than 200 words per minute without a microphone or camera, but it hasn't disclosed its full sensing architecture. It is still in development, with shipping estimated for the first quarter of 2027.
Viture's Phantom Beast goes on sale at $599
Viture's Phantom Beast XR glasses, co-branded with S-GAME for Phantom Blade Zero, went on sale Oct. 30 for $599 on Viture's website, according to 9to5Google. The outlet says they use the same 3DoF tracking and optics as the standard Viture Beast, with a new design and a metal-and-leather scabbard case. We covered the launch in our Phantom Beast piece. We haven't confirmed availability outside Viture's own site.
XREAL Aura gets a free mixed reality game
Resolution Games launched Holochess, a free mixed reality strategy game, on the Google Play Store as XREAL Aura went on sale on Oct. 28. The company describes it as bringing "a tactical tabletop game to life." Aura starts at $1,099 in the US, and the sale itself is covered in XREAL Aura on sale.
