Samsung's AI glasses reportedly go on sale in mid-December

Chosunbiz reports, citing the electronics industry, that Samsung has set mid-December for "Intelligent Eyewear" and will sell it first in South Korea and the US. The outlet says the price is "under discussion," Europe, China and Japan are left out of the first launch, and the glasses use Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 with up to nine hours per charge, running Android XR and Gemini. Samsung has not confirmed any of this. The Korea Herald reported on Oct. 1 that a Samsung official confirmed a November launch, so the two dates conflict. Our full story has the detail.

Senators press Meta on AI glasses privacy and AI training

Sens. Ron Wyden and Edward Markey sent Meta a letter on Wednesday, 404 Media reports. It says imagery from the glasses' visual AI features "may be retained and used to train AI systems, including with the assistance of human reviewers," and calls the reported disclosure of intimate footage to contractors "particularly disturbing." The senators also ask whether people can request deletion of their biometric and other data. 404 Media printed no Meta reply or deadline, and we could not open the letter itself. Read our report.

Garmin posts a record quarter as Tech Times flags 2027 price pressure

Garmin's Q3 revenue was $1.99 billion, up 12% and a company record, according to Tech Times. The company raised its 2026 guidance to about $8.15 billion in revenue. Tech Times says Garmin expects a shift in the memory chip market, driven by AI data center build-out, to compress margins through 2027, and quotes CEO Cliff Pemble calling pricing "one of the tools that we have." Tech Times says no products, price ranges or markets were named. The call quotes come from Tech Times, and our results piece notes Garmin's release has no wearables breakdown.

Rokid Glasses reach the UK with a permanent Selfridges display

Rokid announced on Oct. 30 the UK retail launch of Rokid Glasses, with a permanent display at the Selfridges Tech Bar, 400 Oxford Street, London. The release prices only the Rokid AI Glasses Travel Set: £699, cut to £569 for one day on Oct. 31. Rokid lists real-time translation in 89 languages, video and photo capture, and visual search. The space is run by a distributor the release doesn't name. More in our UK piece.
