Your phone narrows the field first. The Samsung Galaxy Ring works only with Android, so iPhone owners are choosing between Oura Ring 5 and the Ultrahuman Ring Pro. Cost splits them next: Oura charges $5.99 a month for most of its features, while Samsung and Ultrahuman require nothing after purchase. On battery, Ultrahuman's ring is rated for up to 15 days, against six to nine for Oura and up to seven for Samsung.

This comparison is based on each company's published specifications, prices and help pages as of Oct. 25, 2026, plus the reviews we cite. We haven't tested these rings.

The short answer

  • Get Oura Ring 5 if you want the smallest, newest ring and the most features in the app, and you're fine paying $69.99 a year on top of the ring. Wired's reviewer, who has used all three brands, wrote that Oura "delivers the strongest software experience."
  • Get the Samsung Galaxy Ring if you have a Samsung Galaxy phone and want the lowest price with no fee. It's the oldest of the three, launched in July 2024.
  • Get the Ultrahuman Ring Pro if battery life matters most, or you want an iPhone-compatible ring without a subscription. It is also the subject of a new patent lawsuit from Oura.

What each ring costs over two years

Oura's membership keeps adding to the price after you've paid for the ring. Here is what each costs up front and after two years, using Oura's annual plan and US prices before tax.

Up frontAfter two years
Oura Ring 5, Silver or Black$399$538.98
Oura Ring 5, Gold, Brushed Silver, Deep Rose or Stealth$499$638.98
Samsung Galaxy Ring$299.99$299.99
Ultrahuman Ring Pro$479$479

Oura's figures include the first month of membership, which comes with a new account, and two annual payments of $69.99. Adding Oura's optional Charging Case brings the total up by $99. Ultrahuman's figure assumes you skip its paid extras: individual PowerPlugs such as AFib detection, or the Ultrahuman Max plan from $9.99 a month. Without a membership, Oura's app shows only three daily scores, which our Oura membership explainer covers in detail.

Apps, features and charging

All three track sleep, heart rate, HRV, skin temperature and activity, and each turns the data into its own scores:

  • Oura scores Sleep, Readiness and Activity. Its membership adds Health Radar (Symptom Radar, Nighttime Breathing and Blood Pressure Signals), the Oura Advisor assistant, GLP-1 Insights and, in the US, $99 blood tests through Health Panels. Oura shares data with Apple Health, Health Connect and more than 100 other apps.
  • Samsung puts the ring's data in Samsung Health, with a Sleep Score, snoring analysis, an Energy Score, Wellness Tips, cycle tracking and heart rate alerts. On a Galaxy phone, a double pinch takes a photo or dismisses an alarm.
  • Ultrahuman's app has a Sleep Index, Dynamic Recovery, Stress Rhythm, a Movement Index and an aging marker called Ultra Age, plus its Jade AI assistant. Optional PowerPlugs add features such as AFib detection, some of them paid.

Charging differs as well. Oura's ring comes with a size-specific charger, and its Charging Case, which holds about five charges, costs $99 extra. Samsung's ring lives in a battery case that Samsung says lets you go up to 14 days without an outlet. Ultrahuman's case holds up to 45 days of power and stores a year of data, according to Ultrahuman.

Oura Ring 5 vs Galaxy Ring

Oura works with iPhones on iOS 16 or later and Android phones on Android 11 or later. The Galaxy Ring needs Android 11 or later, and Samsung reserves gestures, Find My Ring and its Energy Score for Galaxy phones, so for iPhone owners the decision is already made.

On hardware, Oura's ring is newer and smaller: 2.28 mm thick and 6.09 mm wide against Samsung's 2.6 mm and 7.0 mm, and Oura rates it for six to nine days against Samsung's six to seven. Samsung covers more sizes, 5 to 15 against Oura's 6 to 13, and includes a charging case with a built-in battery, which Oura sells separately for $99.

The Galaxy Ring costs about $100 less up front and nothing after that. Oura, for its part, lets you switch between several rings on one membership if they're Ring 4 or newer, handy if you want a second finish. Oura's app does more, with features such as Health Radar, Oura Advisor and GLP-1 Insights behind its membership. Our Galaxy Ring guide and Oura Ring guide cover each in full.

Oura Ring 5 vs Ultrahuman Ring Pro

Both work with iPhone and Android, so this comes down to battery, cost and size. The Ring Pro is rated for up to 15 days per charge, and its included case adds up to 45 more and stores a year of data. Oura's ring is rated for six to nine days, and its case is a $99 extra.

Oura's ring is thinner and lighter: 2.28 mm and from 2 grams, against 2.65 mm and 3.3 to 4.8 grams for the Ring Pro. Oura's range is sizes 6 to 13, Ultrahuman's is 5 to 14.

On cost, the Ring Pro is $80 more than a Silver or Black Oura Ring 5 up front, but after two years the Oura costs about $60 more once you add the membership. Ultrahuman's model of optional paid add-ons means you pay only for the extra features you pick.

The Ring Pro also carries some legal uncertainty. Oura sued Ultrahuman on Oct. 22, seeking to stop US sales of the Ring Pro over two patents, TechCrunch reported. No court order affects the ring, and Ultrahuman says it remains on sale. Our Ultrahuman Ring Pro guide has the full history.

Galaxy Ring vs Ultrahuman Ring Pro

Neither requires a subscription. The two are nearly the same thickness, 2.6 mm for Samsung and 2.65 mm for Ultrahuman, but the Galaxy Ring is lighter, at 2.3 to 3 grams against 3.3 to 4.8. The Galaxy Ring is also $179 cheaper and has the wider size range; the Ring Pro is newer, rated for more than twice the battery life and works with iPhone. Both include a charging case. If you have a Galaxy phone and a tight budget, Samsung's ring is the simpler buy. If you have an iPhone, or want to charge every two weeks rather than every week, the Ring Pro is the better fit on paper.

Other things to check before you buy

  • If you need a very small or very large ring, check the ranges: Samsung goes up to 15, Ultrahuman to 14 and Oura Ring 5 to 13, while Oura's previous Ring 4 covers 4 to 15. Each brand sizes differently, so use its kit; our sizing guide explains how.
  • Check return policies. Oura allows one return or exchange per item, with refunds within 30 days; confirm the current terms at checkout for any ring.
  • Samsung says the Galaxy Ring's components can't be replaced, so a repair means a new ring.
  • RingConn and Circular sell rings without required subscriptions too, and both pay Oura royalties to keep selling them, according to TechCrunch. Our best smart rings guide covers them.
