The current Oura Ring is the Oura Ring 5. Oura announced it on May 28, 2026, and began shipping it on June 4, at $399 for the Silver and Black finishes and $499 for the other four, according to CNET. Oura calls it the world's smallest smart ring: 6.09 mm wide, 2.28 mm thick and 40% smaller than the Oura Ring 4.

Most of what the Oura app does also requires Oura Membership, which costs $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year in the US after an included first month. Samsung and Ultrahuman, Oura's main rivals, don't charge one.

This guide is based on Oura's product pages, help center and announcements, plus the reporting linked below. We haven't tested the ring.

Price, finishes and where to buy

Oura Ring 5 comes in six titanium finishes. Silver and Black cost $399, and Gold, Brushed Silver, Deep Rose and Stealth cost $499. The Gold is a lighter shade than before, and Deep Rose, a copper-rose color, is new.

At checkout on Oura's online store, you can add a prepaid year of membership and order up to three rings at once. In the US it accepts FSA and HSA debit cards, Affirm, Klarna and Oura gift cards on top of credit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay. CNET reported that the ring, the Charging Case and the membership are all HSA and FSA eligible.

Buy from Oura or an authorized retailer. Oura's warranty covers only those purchases, and the company warns that rings bought from unofficial sellers such as eBay or Facebook Marketplace may be disabled if they're linked to a previously reported issue. Oura allows one return or one exchange per item. Exchanges are only for a different size of the same ring; for a different model or color, you return the ring for a refund within 30 days and order again.

Sizes and fit

Oura Ring 5 comes in sizes 6 to 13, with no half sizes. Oura Ring 4 comes in 4 to 15, and Oura says the sizing differs slightly between the generations, so a Ring 4 owner shouldn't assume the same number fits. Oura's sizes also differ slightly from standard US ring sizes.

Choose Size Later at checkout and Oura sends a free Ring 5 sizing kit first, then ships the ring once you confirm a size. Oura recommends wearing a sizer for at least 24 hours, including overnight, choosing the smaller size if you're between two, and using your index finger for the most accurate readings. Our smart ring sizing guide walks through the process for each brand.

If your size is below 6 or above 13, look at Oura Ring 4. Oura's help center says which Ring 4 and Ring 4 Ceramic finishes and sizes you can buy now depends on current inventory at its store and at retailers.

Battery and charging

Oura rates Ring 5 at six to nine days per charge, depending on ring size, settings and use; larger rings hold larger batteries, CNET noted. Ring 4 is rated at five to eight days. A full charge on the included charger, which is made for one ring size, takes about 80 minutes.

The Oura Ring 5 Charging Case is sold separately. Wired and CNET put its price at $99 and say it holds about five full charges. Oura says it keeps the ring going for up to a month away from an outlet and that 10 minutes in the case adds a full day of use. CNET reported that each case fits only one ring size and that the case supports wireless charging and works with Oura's Locate feature, which uses Bluetooth to guide you to a misplaced ring or case.

What Oura Ring 5 tracks

Red and infrared LEDs measure blood oxygen overnight, and green and infrared LEDs alternate to track heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV) around the clock, along with respiration rate. A digital sensor follows temperature trends and an accelerometer counts movement. Oura says the ring tracks more than 50 health metrics, which the app turns into three daily scores: Sleep, Readiness and Activity.

With a membership, the app adds Oura's newer features, which work on Gen3 and newer rings:

  • Health Radar, expanded alongside Ring 5, groups longer-term signals: Symptom Radar, which looks for early signs of a cold or flu, Nighttime Breathing, a 30-day view of breathing disruptions during sleep, and Blood Pressure Signals. Oura says Health Radar does not diagnose or monitor any condition. In the US, members with elevated results may be pointed to ResMed for sleep breathing or to Counsel Health, an AI-assisted medical guidance service.
  • GLP-1 Insights, new this year, lets people taking drugs like Ozempic or Wegovy log doses, side effects and weight next to their sleep, activity and stress data.
  • Oura Advisor is the app's AI assistant for questions about your data.
  • Health Panels books a blood test covering 50 biomarkers at a Quest Diagnostics lab for $99. It is US only and not offered in Arizona, New Jersey, New York or Rhode Island.

Wired's review describes two fitness additions: workouts started from the phone show pace, distance and heart rate as a Live Activity on the lock screen, and the ring can now pair with third-party Bluetooth heart rate monitors.

How Oura Membership works

Without a membership, the app shows only the three daily scores, the ring's battery level, basic profile details, settings and Explore content. Membership adds the rest: detailed sleep, heart and temperature data and every feature listed above. One membership covers every ring on your account, and the multi-ring feature for switching between them works with Ring 4 and later. Our Oura membership explainer breaks down the costs and what happens if you cancel.

Phone compatibility and apps

The Oura app runs on iPhones with iOS 16 or later and on Android phones with Android 11 or later and Google Play services, and the phone needs Bluetooth 5.0. Oura shares data with Apple Health and Health Connect and works with more than 100 other apps, Strava among them. The app is offered in more than 20 languages. Oura closed its web dashboard, Oura on the Web, on Oct. 5, 2026; your data stays in the app and can be downloaded from the Membership Hub.

CNET noted that Ring 5 starts $50 above the base Ring 4. Software is not much of a reason to upgrade: Oura says the features released with Ring 5 work on Gen3 and newer rings with a membership, and Wired's reviewer saw no dramatic difference in the data between the two generations. The reasons to choose Ring 5 are physical: a smaller ring, a day more of rated battery and a coating Oura says resists scratches better.

Oura in the news

Oura told The Wall Street Journal on Oct. 22 that it had passed six million paying members. "Reaching six million paid members, with one million members added since the end of June, demonstrates the growing demand for personalized health insights," CEO Tom Hale said. A month earlier, Oura had publicly filed for an IPO aiming to raise as much as $2.2 billion at a valuation of about $15.6 billion, then postponed it days later, citing "uncertainty in the IPO market," the Journal reported. The Guardian reported in May that Oura's revenue reached $1 billion in 2025 and that it had sold 5.5 million rings since it was founded in 2013.

Oura filed a new patent lawsuit against Ultrahuman on Oct. 22, asking a federal court in Texas to stop US sales of the Ultrahuman Ring Pro. One of the two patents in the complaint was issued two days before the filing, and Ultrahuman says the ring remains on sale. Our report on the lawsuit has the details. Oura has also brought patent claims against Samsung, RingConn, Circular and Zepp Health, and RingConn and Circular now pay Oura royalties, according to TechCrunch.

In February, Oura started moving its legal home from Finland to the United States under a new US parent company. Hale wrote that the move is a legal and tax restructuring and does not change Oura's products or teams.

Which Oura to buy

If you're new to Oura and wear a size between 6 and 13, Ring 5 is the current model. Plan on $538.98 for a Silver or Black ring plus two years of annual membership, before tax. If you already own a Ring 4, the new software reaches your ring anyway, so an upgrade buys a smaller ring and a little more battery. If your size falls outside Ring 5's range, Ring 4 is the Oura that fits. And if you don't want a subscription, compare the Galaxy Ring and Ultrahuman Ring Pro, which don't charge one.
